DESCRIPTION:We bring our “Norway and Askelad” program to Summerwood of Chanhassen.  Askelad is Norway’s folk hero! He is the underdog who always prevails against all odds by his wits\, ingenuity\, and good fortune. Margi Griebling-Haigh wrote Askelad and the Seven Silver Ducks for us to tell of one of his famous exploits in words and music. She also illustrated an Askelad book/CD combo we recorded of the tale\, so you can take the story with you or share it with family and friends. The program is free and open to the public. No actual trolls or ducks will be harmed in the course of the performance.

DESCRIPTION:OboeBass!\, the worldʼs only professional oboe/bass duo\, brings a recital showcasing their unique artistry and instrumental blends to the UWEC Summer Double Reed Camp Carrie Vecchione\, oboe/English horn\, and Rolf Erdahl\, double bass\, perform music by classical masters along with some of the exciting and evocative new pieces composed especially for them. Music of Handel\, Grieg\, Piazzolla\, Tim Goplerud\, Julie Johnson\, and Adrian Mann. They’ll also perform some pieces from their latest CD release\, Monk Fish Tango\, Music for English horn and double bass by Timothy Goplerud. \nThe 4:00 recital\, free and open to the public\, will be in the L.E. Phillips Recital Hall in the Haas Fine Arts Center on the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire campus.

SUMMARY:Carrie at UWEC\, Rolf in the vicinity of Fleet Street
DESCRIPTION:This week Carrie at the girls are off to teach and play oboe at Christa Garvey’s Double Reed Camp at UW Eau Claire. Rolf will join Carrie for a 4:00 Wednesday OboeBass! recital\, including a couple selections from our recently released recording\, Monk Fish Tango\, Music for English horn and doublebass by Tim Goplerud. While the girls are away\, Rolf will play in the orchestra for Mill City Opera’s production of Sweeney Todd. The run of the show is sold out\, but there should be a few rush tickets available at the door if you get there early enough. Rolf recommends you sample one of the fine restaurants in the area rather than rely on Mrs. Lovett’s meat pies. Knives and razors will be flashing in Minneapolis and Eau Claire\, and we’ll try to stay sharp\, but on pitch!
