SUMMARY:SALT Luncheon Performance\, Burnsville\, MN
DESCRIPTION:We will provide Luncheon entertainment for SALT\, Seniors Learning Together at Risen Saviour Catholic Church. \nSponsored by a coalition of 12 churches in Dakota County\, the program is open to people of ALL ages!  Sessions are held on 4 consecutive Mondays every Spring and Fall.  Their goal is to appeal to a broad spectrum of interests with 4 presentations on various subjects scheduled each day (2 speakers each hour). Participants choose one session to attend each hour. The first hour begins at 9:30 a.m. There is a 15 minute refreshment break between the first and second hour. Sessions cost $5 per person. The program is followed by an optional lunch at 11:45 a.m. for only $9.50/person.  \nHere are the topics and schedule (and menu!) for the day: September 19: Three Steps to Better by Caryn Sullivan\, Sioux Trail Elementary to Photographing Nobel Peace Laureates by Doug Knutson\, Laughter Yoga by Sarah Routman\, Minnesota Gold by Patrick Mader. Lunch entertainment: OboeBass! The Vechhione/Erdahl Duo. Optional Lunch Menu: Carved Roast Beef\, Baked Potato with Sour Cream & Chives\, Mixed Vegetables\, Bread & Butter\, Strawberry Shortcake. \nWe’ve presented educational programs there in the past\, and are happy to provide lunch music for this great community educational event.

SUMMARY:YPSCA Fall Party
DESCRIPTION:YPSCA is the Young People’s Symphony Concert Association. They were created in 1911 to support the Minnesota Orchestra’s Young People’s Concerts\, one the nation’s oldest series of YPCs. We present Pages of Music preview programs to schools in Robbinsdale\, Richfield\, and Columbia Heights\, preparing them for their school trips to Minnesota Orchestra Young People’s Concerts. In addition to supporting our preview programs\, YPSCA provides volunteer ushers for the concerts and assists schools with transportation and ticket expenses to attend these concerts. In addition\, their School Music Auditions allow students to compete for the chance to perform as soloists with the Minnesota Orchestra at a future YPC. \nWe often perform for YPSCA members at their fall membership party\, with a preview of what we’ll present to students in the schools. She also illustrated an Askelad book/CD combo we recorded of the tale\, so you can take the story with you or share it with family and friends. The program is free and open to the public. No actual trolls or ducks will be harmed in the course of the performance.

DESCRIPTION:This week Carrie at the girls are off to teach and play oboe at Christa Garvey’s Double Reed Camp at UW Eau Claire. Rolf will join Carrie for a 4:00 Wednesday OboeBass! recital\, including a couple selections from our recently released recording\, Monk Fish Tango\, Music for English horn and doublebass by Tim Goplerud. While the girls are away\, Rolf will play in the orchestra for Mill City Opera’s production of Sweeney Todd. The run of the show is sold out\, but there should be a few rush tickets available at the door if you get there early enough. Rolf recommends you sample one of the fine restaurants in the area rather than rely on Mrs. Lovett’s meat pies. Knives and razors will be flashing in Minneapolis and Eau Claire\, and we’ll try to stay sharp\, but on pitch!

We’ll share some folktunes and dance music\, some classics by Edvard Grieg\, and conclude with a musical/theatrical retelling of the classic Norwegian folktale\, Askelad and the Seven Silver Ducks\, composed especially for OboeBass! by Margie Griebling-Haigh. We promise no actual ducks or trolls will be harmed in the course of this performance. \nFree and open to the public of all ages. Events run continuously from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.
