SUMMARY:OboeBass! performs Norway's Askelad at Waseca Chautauqua
DESCRIPTION:OboeBass! will share music and stories from Norway as part of the July 2 Chautauqua festivities in Waseca\, MN. People living in isolated villages and farms nestled in the mountains and fjords of Norway came up with some unique stories and music that intrigue and delight people from all lands. We’ll share some folktunes and dance music\, some classics by Edvard Grieg\, and conclude with a musical/theatrical retelling of the classic Norwegian folktale\, Askelad and the Seven Silver Ducks\, composed especially for OboeBass! by Margie Griebling-Haigh. We promise no actual ducks or trolls will be harmed in the course of this performance. \nFree and open to the public of all ages. Events run continuously from 11:00 am-4:00 pm. Teddy Roosevelt once called Chautauquas “the most American thing in America.” Come see why! Hope to see you at Waseca’s Chautauqua on this patriotic weekend!\n\nThis Waseca County Historical Society event is made possible by a grant made possible by the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council with Funds Appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature and the Waseca Area Foundation E.F.Johnson Family Fund.

DESCRIPTION:OboeBass! is the worldʼs only professional oboe/bass duo. They come to Craneʼs Mill with a recital of music showcasing their unique artistry and instrumental blends. Theyʼll perform a mix of music by classical masters along with some of the exciting and evocative new pieces composed especially for them.
