OboeBass! helps kick off the 2021 season of the Northern Lights Music Festival, performing two movements of Valerie Coleman’s American Vein, composed for OboeBass! through a Classical Commissioning Grant from Chamber Music America. American Vein is especially appropriate to perform in close connection with the 4th of July, as the pieces is a roadtrip across US history and geography, celebrating the best things America can mean to everybody. OboeBass! will perform movement 4, The Melting Pot, celebrating the contributions of immigrants from the Statue of Liberty, and movement 5, Barn Raising, Bourbon, and Bluegrass hoisting the things we can accomplish when we work together.
